Coon Rapids’ annual Fourth of July celebration concludes Sunday, July 7.
The five-day event, which is sponsored by the Coon Rapids Fire Social Group, the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club and the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation, begins today (July 3) and all activities take place at Sand Creek Park on Northdale Boulevard.
On tap Friday, July 5 is the midway, which opens at noon, and the firefighters’ bingo and pull tabs, which start at 2 p.m.
The band, Shag, will perform at the park this evening starting at 7 p.m.
The fourth annual Crafts at the Creek event, sponsored by the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club, will take place Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
There will be free admission to the craft booths that will be set up at Sand Creek Park.

The Lions club is also sponsoring the second annual car show Saturday, 6-11 p.m.
Hot rods and classics, including cars, trucks and motorcycles, will be on display on one of the park’s softball fields. There is a $5 per car donation to the Anoka County Brotherhood Council Food Shelf.
The drivers of the first 50 cars in the show receive a free T-shirt. For more information call 612-281-3722.
The midway starts at noon tomorrow, while bingo and pull tabs begin at 2 p.m. It will be final day for both activities.
Performing on stage at the park tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. will be the band, The Arcades.
Members of the North Star Lions Club will also be manning the concession stand at the park throughout the celebration.
They will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, nacho cheese and chips, walking tacos, popcorn, frozen slushies, pop, water, tea, candy bars and chips.
