Coon Rapids couple killed in motorcycle accident

A Coon Rapids couple were killed Monday when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a pickup truck in Crow Wing County.

The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victims as David A. Dittes, 52, and Tammy J. Dittes, 53.

According to the state patrol report, the motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 6 north of Crow Wing County Road 11 near Crosby shortly before 2:30 p.m. July 8.

The motorcycle crossed the center line of the two-lane undivided highway and struck head-on a pickup truck, which was traveling north on Highway 6, the state patrol states.

The driver of the truck, Scott H. Nelson, 60, Crosby, was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to the state patrol, David Dittes was not wearing a helmet, but his wife was.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident, the state patrol report states.
