How health care will affect consumers and employers is the topic of the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce membership meeting Tuesday, July 16, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the TPC Blaine.
Guest speaker is Dr. Bill McGuire, who served as chairperson and chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group from 1991-2007.
McGuire continues to be involved in health-related issues surrounding access, affordability, appropriate use of health resources, outcomes of care, overall wellness, the need for greater physician leadership in the country’s health care system and basic medical research.
According to Lori Higgins, chamber president, McGuire is also actively engaged in worldwide biodiversity research and preservation of the environment, efforts to address disparities and suboptimal outcomes in the education system and the importance of the arts in society.
In addition, McGuire became the owner of the Minnesota Stars professional soccer team in February this year.
Part of the North American Soccer League, the club has been renamed Minnesota United FC and will play its home games at the National Sports Center in Blaine during the second half of the season.
The cost is $25 per person or $185 for a table for chamber members; $35 per person for non-chamber members.
