The annual event was sponsored by the Coon Rapids Fire Social Group, the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club and the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation.

It began July 3 with the annual parade, the opening day of the carnival and a performance by The Splatter Sisters.

Large crowds flocked to the park for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display the night of July 4.

Live music was performed that evening by the band, The Kill-a-brews, both before and after the fireworks.

Activities over the Fourt of July weekend featured the fourth annual Crafts at the Creek on both Saturday and Sunday and the second annual car show Saturday evening.

There were some 28 craft booths set up for people to browse on one of the softball fields in Sand Creek Park during Crafts at the Creek.

The car show includes cars, trucks and motorcycles, both hot rods and classics.

All vehicle owners participating contributed $5 to the Anoka County Brotherhood Council Food Shelf.

There were also band shows both Friday and Saturday evenings by Shag and The Arcades, respectively.

The midway was open each day Wednesdays through Saturday so was the firefighters bingo and pull tabs tent.

Members of the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club manned the concession stand at the park all five days of the celebration.
