Two businesses that failed Coon Rapids Police Department tobacco compliance checks in March were rechecked July 2.
One store, the Coon Rapids Marathon, 380 Northdale Blvd., passed; the second, Fuel Mini Mart, 11706 Crooked Lake Blvd., was no longer in business.
Det. Brad Johnson and a 16-year-old boy performed the two compliance checks.
In March, 50 businesses were checked for tobacco sales compliance and 47 passed, two failed and one had closed.
The two businesses that failed the March check were each assessed a $250 administrative fee; it was their first violation.
The clerk at each store that sold a tobacco product to the underage purchaser was cited for sale of tobacco to a minor with a court date in April.
