There is no shortage of exciting activities and events planned for this year’s East Bethel Booster Days Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
Friday will kick off this year’s celebration with the East Bethel Fire Department’s Waterball at 6:30 p.m. at the East Bethel Community Center, followed by a free movie in the park at dusk sponsored by Chops, Inc.
Also at the community center, Saturday morning brings a pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m., flag-raising at 8 a.m. and a 5K fun run and walk starting at 8 a.m. Kids can take part in the 1K run at 9:15 a.m. and after that their parents can take advantage of Anoka County Sheriff’s Office fingerprinting at 11:30 a.m.
A historical donation and presentation will take place at 12:30 p.m., followed by bingo from 1-4 p.m. and Cedar Creek Ecosystem Reserve tours from 2-5 p.m. The community center will also host a car, truck and tractor show Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, at Booster Park, registration for the kiddie parade starts at 9:30 a.m., with the parade kicking off at 10 a.m. The grand parade will follow at 11 a.m.
The Lions club turtle races will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the tennis courts. Enjoy the music of local bands performing in the “Musikal Mayhem” also starting at 12:30 p.m. and running through 5 p.m.
Tractor fans, don’t miss the tractor pull in Booster Park starting at 1:30 p.m.
Another event held in conjunction with Booster Days is the coronation of East Bethel’s 2013 royalty. The East Bethel Royalty Pageant will be held at 2 p.m. at the East Bethel Ice Arena.
Candidates for 2013 Little Miss are Krisdi Knutson (sponsored by G.E. Knutson, Inc.), Taylor Wilson (Baden Exteriors) and Annelise Hulst (Highland Money Management, Inc.)
Junior Princess candidates are Rachel Wiederhold (East Bethel Village Bank), Caitlin Mann (Northway Sports), Jillian Cherney (Cedar/East Bethel Lions and Lioness), and Allisyn Hulst (Jonak Orthodontics).
Candidates for Miss East Bethel and Princess are Heather Rickbeil (Flagship in Ham Lake), Jackie Voss (Little Me Childcare), Brianna Stansberry (Ham Lake Acapulco), Erika McDonough (East Bethel Fire Department) and Heidi Holthus (Triton Security Solutions).
In addition to all of these activities and events, there will also be a lot of food, vendors, a craft and bake sale, quilt raffle, silent auction and kids’ treasure hunt courtesy of People’s Bank. East Bethel residents age 10 or younger can put their names in for the drawing for an East Bethel Fire Department fire truck birthday party package.
The 2013 Booster Days will draw to a close with the 52nd annual firefighters dance with live music by Uncle Chunk from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with a fireworks display at dusk.
