School board seeks bond issue approval

District 11 Board of Education Monday authorized a bond election for Tuesday, Oct. 2 for the construction of one junior high school and one elementary school at a total cost of $6.2 million.

The junior high school would be located on a 55-acre site along University Avenue in Coon Rapids, and would house Northdale junior high school student body, temporarily located in the Blaine senior high school building.

Bike rally Saturday at Pioneer Village

A bike rally which will include drag races, a radar run, obstacle course and “bunny hops” will be held Saturday, July 23 at the Pioneer Village shopping center, Highways 65 and 242.

Thirty trophies will be awarded and the Schwinn Trick Riding Team will perform. Competition will be in five age groups.

Program helps parents help their children reach success

Spring Lake Park school district is one of four in the state that will take part in a unique family education program.

The Sears-Roebuck Foundation Family Education Program is designed to help parents help their children succeed in school and beyond by utilizing family activities as learning opportunities.
