Coon Rapids Safety Camp coming up

Safety camp for Coon Rapids children entering fourth and fifth grades will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, July 23 and 24 at Sand Creek Park.

Activities take place each day at the park from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Coon Rapids fire and police departments are hosting the camp to teach kids a variety of skills that will help them stay safe.

Safety skills that will be taught include water safety, fire safety, electrical safety, basic first aid and how to use 911.

A graduation for camp participants will take place Wednesday, July 24, 7 p.m., in the auditorium at Coon Rapids High School.

The $50 registration fee covers supplies, T-shirt, snacks and lunch as well as transportation to and from the swimming pool. There are $15 scholarships available to children based on the free and reduced lunch program.
