Former Ice Dog joins NA3HL’s Twin City Steel

Recent Blaine High School graduate Brandon Taylor became the first Icedogs junior hockey player to commit to playing hockey after high school.

Taylor signed with the Twin City Steel of the 18-team North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) for the 2013-14 season. The team is based out of the Vadnais Heights Sports Center.

The Steel posted a record of 19-26 last season and were fifth in the six-team West Division with 41 points, one point behind Minnesota Flying Aces for the final playoff spot.

Other former high school players who made the Steel roster last season included Zach Randall (Spring Lake Park), Patrick Drazkowski (Coon Rapids) and Brady Peterson (Andover). Randall played 30 games with the Flying Aces last season before being traded to the Steel for the final 12 games of the season.

The NA3HL is one of six Tier III junior leagues sanctioned by USA Hockey.
