One woman died and four other people were taken to area hospitals with injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 65 at 181st Avenue NE in East Bethel the morning of July 18.
Teresa Lynn Snodgrass, 35, of East Bethel was killed, according to Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
A Ford flatbed truck hauling a skid loader was southbound on Highway 65 when a Pontiac Grand Prix, in which Snodgrass was a front seat passenger, allegedly tried to cross directly in its path onto westbound 181st Avenue, Sommer stated in a press release.
The Ford truck struck the passenger side of the Pontiac, Sommer said.
Snodgrass was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Pontiac — 32-year-old Ham Lake resident Tina Marie Witzig — was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition. A rear seat passenger in the Pontiac, a 13-year-old girl from East Bethel, was transported to Mercy Hospital in stable condition.
Mounds View resident Fransisco Guzman-Lepe, 52, was driving the Ford and 60-year-old Jose Manuel Sanchez-Lepe of Anoka was his passenger. Both were transported to Unity in stable condition.
The case remains under the investigation of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the Anoka County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
