Head Start, serving children and families in Anoka County, is now enrolling students in its preschool program.
There is no cost to families who participate in the program.
Head Start provides educational, health, nutrition and social service assistance to children and their families who are income eligible, including families on county assistance, supplemental Social Security and foster children.
A variety of programs are available at Head Start center locations in Anoka, Cedar, Coon Rapids and Columbia Heights.

Head Start also offers a home visiting program for pregnant women and families with children birth to age five. Learning activities are provided for parents and children during the home visit. In addition, children attend two half-day socialization sessions per month.
Applications are accepted all year. Services are available for children with special needs. Transportation on the Head Start bus is limited. Parents may also drive their child to the nearest center.
