A “minor” fire damaged a modular office space in a “non-patient care area” of Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids this morning (Wednesday, July 24), according to an Allina Health spokesperson.
David Kanihan of Allina Health said hospital staff called the fire department after seeing flames under the building and started to put it out with fire extinguishers as the Coon Rapids Fire Department arrived.
There were no injuries.
Kanihan said, “All hospital services are up and running.”
This modular building is a permanent structure that has been on campus for many years and is connected to the west side of the hospital. What caused the fire to start is still being investigated.
