A Coon Rapids man has been accused in Anoka County District Court of threatening two men with a knife at a Ramsey residence.
Kwaku Kwabi Sefah Jr., 23, 12372 Ivywood St. NW, Coon Rapids, was arraigned in court July 10 on felony second-degree assault and terroristic threats charges.
Bail was set at $50,000 and future court appearances have been scheduled for Aug. 8 and Sept. 16.
At Sefah’s arraignment, the court ordered a Rule 20 competency evaluation to be performed on Sefah to determine whether he knew right from wrong at the time of the alleged offense and whether he is able to take part in his defense.
According to the complaint, the morning of July 7, Ramsey Police responded to a residence on the 14400 block of Radium Street NW on a report of man threatening more than one person with a knife.
A man who lived at the house told police that he was concerned that Sefah, a relative, had stayed out all night and asked Safeh’s brother to find him and bring him to the man’s home, which the brother did.
But the man alleged that Sefah became belligerent, grabbed a butcher’s knife and threatened to kill both him and the brother before they were able to wrestle the knife away from Sefah.
The brother allegedly corroborated the man’s account when interviewed by police.
