Copper wire stolen from vacant Coon Rapids industrial building

Copper wire was reported stolen in a burglary at a vacant building in the Coon Rapids Industrial Park last week.

A representative from the Cushman Wakefield property management company contacted the Coon Rapids Police Department to report the burglary shortly after 8:30 a.m. July 16.

The copper wire was taken from the main floor of the mechanical room and a check of the rest of the building found a circuit breaker box had been cut off a wall, according to the police report.

The loss was estimated at $500.

It was the second incident in a week at the former Budweiser distribution center on the 11200 block of Xeon Street NW.

However, the alarm spooked the burglars in that case and the copper taken from the building was found stacked up outside, according to Det. Sgt. Jon Urquhart, Coon Rapids Police.
