A woman encountered an unknown man in her Coon Rapids home late Monday evening.
Coon Rapids Police responded to a 911 call from a residence on the 10800 block of Crooked Lake Boulevard shortly after 10:30 p.m. July 29.
The woman, 69, reported that she noticed the rear sliding glass door was open when she came out of the kitchen and she ran into a man as he came up from the basement.
According to the Coon Rapids Police report, the man covered his face, told the woman he was in the wrong place and would not hurt her, and left by the sliding glass door.
Cash amounting to $15 and 10 prescription Vicodin pills were taken from the woman’s purse and cookies were moved from the kitchen on to the deck.
The woman described the suspect as a white male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a dark buzzed hair cut. He was wearing a dark T-shirt and plaid shorts.
Police set up a perimeter, but were unable to locate the suspect. Later, police received a report of a male matching the suspect’s description running through a backyard on the 10800 block of Direct River Drive.
