A contract was awarded by the Coon Rapids City Council July 16 for the reconstruction of a sewer lift station.
Geislinger and Sons, Inc. was the low bidder in the amount of $291,439 for the reconstruction of Lift Station No. 8, which is located at 10320 Mississippi Blvd.
SEH, Inc., which was retained to provide engineering services for the project, estimated the cost at $351,000.
There were three bids on the project.
According to Public Works Director Tim Himmer, Lift Station No. 8 serves an area in the southwest part of Coon Rapids along Mississippi Boulevard.
“The lift station is at an end of its useful life and needs to be replaced,” Himmer wrote in a report to the council.
Funding for the project comes from the sanitary sewer fund, which derives its revenues from the quarterly utility bills paid by property owners in the city.
The lift station reconstruction project is part of the five-year sanitary sewer capital improvement program, according to Himmer.
