But they were not only entertained by three members of The Cowboy and Hobo Show, but also by a Cajun comedian from Louisiana, who was visiting one of the band members and gave an impromptu comedy set, according to Kris Niebler, Coon Rapids Senior Services program specialist.

This is not the first time that Boxcar Bob, Cactus Willie and The Drifter have performed at one of the Coon Rapids Senior Services dinner shows, but they have now shortened the group’s name to The Cowboy and Hobo Show, Niebler said.

“They are very popular,” she said.

In fact, reservations for the show had to be cutoff and there were 30 people left on a waiting list, Niebler said.

The Cowboy and Hobo Show featured hits from country, rock, cowboy and folk music plus original songs.

Performing at many venues from Minnesota to Texas, the group has earned a reputation for high quality musical entertainment, according to its website.

Recently the performers were awarded Valley Star Entertainer of the Year Award at Victoria Palms Resort, Donna, Texas.

The group has performed at many of the largest festivals and shows such as the Pendleton Rodeo Mainstreet Show in Oregon, Almelund Threshing Show in Minnesota and the Beldenville Old Car Club Show in Wisconsin as well as the Paramount Theater in St. Cloud, to name a few.

This weekend, Aug. 9-11, The Cowboy and Hobo Show will be performing at the second annual Minnesota Harvest Appletennial Hoedown in Jordan.
