Felony gun possession charges against an Andover man were dismissed July 12 in Anoka County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint, the Anoka-Hennepin Drug Task Force found two shotguns in his bedroom while executing an April 11 search warrant.
The Anoka County Attorney’s Office believed he should not have these firearms because of a first-degree controlled substance sale conviction from 1990 in Hennepin County.
However, Anoka County Attorney’s Office spokesperson Amanda Vickstrom said late last week that the charges were dismissed because Thompson presented a prisoner release document the warden had signed that said his full civil rights were restored.
