Community celebration in Spring Lake Park

Several church and civic groups in Spring Lake Park have joined forces to organize a community celebration for the 20th anniversary of the village’s incorporation.

The following items are being considered for the Sept. 15 and 16 event: parade, sports activities, carnival, evening dance, kiddie parade, concessions and community picnic.

Also considered is a contest to name the celebration for continuity as an annual celebration.

SLP looking at computer to ease work, efficiency

Time and preparation are two key elements when changes in a system are being developed and later implemented.

The City of Spring Lake Park has been putting much time and preparation into studying the needs and areas which will benefit when the city changes over from its current operations system to a new computerized system.

Storefront school to open in area

A site for District 11’s first storefront alternative school has been secured in Blaine. Located at the University Creek Plaza the alternative high school site was approved by the Blaine City Council Aug. 5.

The school will serve students who are 16 years old and older who have left either Blaine or Coon Rapids High School.
