Local growers from the Anoka County Growers Association set up stands on the Mary T. Inc. campus every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. through September.

Each week brings a different assortment of fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers available for purchase.

This is the third year that the Mary T. Inc. farmers market has taken place. Mary T. Inc. works in partnership with the Anoka County Growers Association to provide this market to the community.

The Mary T. Inc. Wellness Committee initially received a grant from Anoka County Statewide Health Improvement Program to fund start up costs of the market but due to its popularity, it has continued to host the weekly market.

But that’s not all that’s growing at Mary T. Inc.  Margaret Place, a independent senior apartment building under the Mary T. Inc. umbrella, is working on a new project this year to bring fresh produce to its residents.

Margaret Place staff built raised garden beds for residents to use to grow fresh herbs and vegetables and the Margaret Place gardening club now works in the garden to provide fresh produce that is used in meals prepared in the Margaret Place dining room.

Some of the efforts include radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, scallions, basil and parsley.

Mary T. Inc. is a family owned company that has been providing service to senior communities and persons with disabilities since 1976.

The Farmers’ Market location is 1442 118th Lane NW.
