Women charged with stealing from Blaine clothing stores

Two women have been accused of stealing almost $1,500 worth of merchandise from two Blaine clothing stores.

Stephanie Lyons, 25, of Minneapolis, and Taryn Rose Tillman, 24, of Richfield, were arraigned Aug. 1 in Anoka County District Court on felony theft charges. Lyons faces a second felony charge for fleeing police in a motor vehicle.

Their next court appearances are Aug. 29.

According to the criminal complaint, Blaine Police were alerted 7:44 p.m. July 30 to two women shoplifting a large amount of merchandise from Kohl’s.

Authorities located a white Volkswagen that matched the suspect vehicle description traveling on Radisson Road toward I-35W.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Lyons allegedly drove away at speeds reaching 100 mph as they traveled on I-35W and quickly took the County Road I exit, which caused an officer to lose control of their squad car and run into a ditch.

The Volkswagen eventually crashed on Edgewood Road in Blaine and the suspects fled on foot, but were later apprehended.

According to the complaint, officers found “a significant amount of stolen merchandise” from two clothing stores inside the vehicle.

The value of items stolen from Maurices was $771.96 and the value of merchandise stolen from Kohl’s was $671.99 for a combined value of $1,443.95.
