Lowell Murray Mason, 84, passed away in Henderson, Nevada on June 15, 2013, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, to loving parents Evelyn (Brown) and Leslie B. Mason, Sr. Lowell (“Mase”) grew up in Anoka. He played high school football for Anoka, and for a short time for Park Rapids. Lowell served in the Navy as Electronics Technician Third Class, and was accepted into the Naval Reserve. He was graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in economics and was a running back on the football team. In 1952, Lowell married June Myran, the love of his life, and they began their family. Lowell worked for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Company (now Thrivent) for 29 years while raising a family in Coon Rapids. Lowell served his church and community, and was active in local politics. He was treasurer of Advent Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids. In 2003, Lowell and June left Minnesota for Henderson, Nevada, joining Lowell’s brother David and wife Joan in warmer surroundings. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife June. He is survived by his brothers, Leslie B. Jr. (Ardis) and David (Joan); daughter, Christine (Rick) Christensen; sons, John (Martha) Mason and Tim (Yuriko) Mason; Chris and Rick’s children, Sarah Christensen (and daughter, Addisyn) and Erin (Matt) Pascarella (and sons, Ayden and Antonio), and by Tim and Yuriko’s sons, Andrew and Kai. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 24, 2013, at Advent Lutheran Church of Anoka, 540 East River Road, Anoka, Minnesota.
