The community is invited to join past and present members of the League of Women Voters ABC in a celebration honoring 75 years of community involvement Monday, Sept. 9 in Andover City Hall’s Senior Center.
Organized in Anoka in 1938 by a group of local residents and rooted in the national League of Women Voters commitment to civic engagement and voter education, membership now includes women and men from several north metro communities.
In its 75-year span, League of Women Voters ABC has steadfastly promoted voter registration and education, provided candidate forums and advocated for change in many critical local and state issues, according to Katherine Whelchel, League of Women Voters ABC.
Social time, refreshments and exhibits begin at 6 p.m., followed by a program at 6:30 p.m. The program will feature a retrospective of accomplishments, historical perspectives and a look ahead to challenges.
Andover City Hall is located at 1685 Crosstown Blvd. NW. Enter the city hall parking lot from Crosstown and proceed to the north end of the parking lot to the senior center door.
League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
