Jim Klobuchar to keynote annual senior safety camp

The 14th annual Coon Rapids Senior Safety Camp will take place Wednesday, Sept. 11, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Civic Center.

Keynote speaker is Jim Klobuchar, who will talk about his 45 years in daily journalism, his 23 books, being a radio and TV host, an adventurer, mountain climber, licensed pilot and a finalist in NASA’s journalist in space program.

The father of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, he will also speak about how he stays young at heart, active and makes the most of his golden years.

Besides Klobuchar’s talk, the event includes other presenters and an expo.

There will be live entertainment by keyboardist and singer Larry Johnson and a continental breakfast served on arrival sponsored by Mary T., Inc.

A noon lunch is included as well.

Participants are required to attend the entire program and thanks to community donations, the cost is only $6, which includes lunch, refreshments, speakers and door prizes.

The senior safety camp is hosted by the Coon Rapids fire and police departments and Coon Rapids Senior Services.
