Some Northwest Passage students, teachers going to China

Twelve students from Northwest Passage High School Coon Rapids along with two teachers will travel to China next March to participate in the Global Student Leaders Summit in Shanghai.

Students will participate in three days of workshops, lectures and breakout sessions with other high school students from around the world to discuss global economic and educational issues.

While in Shanghai they will also visit sites including the Jade Buddha Temple, and the Yu Yuan Garden. After the conference students will travel by train to Beijing to visit the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China.

Northwest Passage students are not unfamiliar with educational travel. The school participates in 20 travel expeditions each year. Most trips are offered to students at no cost to families; however, because of the expenses of the China trip students will be conducting a number of fundraisers in the coming months.

The school will host a pancake breakfast on Sept. 21 and a holiday poinsettia sale in November.
