Motorcyclist killed in Oak Grove accident

A motorcyclist from Anoka died in a two-vehicle accident in Oak Grove Sept. 6.

Leander Barfield, 40, was killed in the crash, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after 5 p.m., a motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle in the intersection at Viking Boulevard and University Avenue.

Barfield was pronounced dead at the scene following resuscitation efforts, according to an Anoka County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Neither the driver nor the passenger in the vehicle were injured.

There is no indication that alcohol or controlled substances played a role in the accident, the news release states.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office assisted the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
