A program on palliative medicine will be presented as part of the Coon Rapids Senior Services’ lifelong learning series Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Senior Center.
Palliative medicine is for people who are seriously or chronically ill and focuses on the symptoms, pain and stress of serious illness.
Presenter Becky Weber, a certified nurse practitioner with Aseracare Palliative Medicine, will talk about how palliative medicine is care that is provided in whatever setting a patient calls home, how it differs from hospice and also does not replace existing clinical care.
Rather, according to Weber, it is a specialty consultative medical practice that addresses symptoms and care management to improve the quality of life.
