Swimming: Anoka tests state pool at Maroon and Gold Invite

Anoka hit the Aquatic Center pool at the University of Minnesota as part of the 1,100-swimmer strong Maroon and Gold Invite Sept. 7. The Tornadoes placed 11th in the maroon division with 108 point, three points behind Chaska, while Farmington won the team title with 315 points.

The event was broken up into four divisions (Tiger, Bronze, Maroon and Gold) and Tornadoes coach John Jacobson said his team would have placed third in the Maroon division with the times the team recorded. “They should be really proud of the outcome,” he said about the early-season meet.

• Anoka’s 200-yard medley relay team of Grace Sakry, Morgan Pint, Oaisha Kennedy and Maddie DuBois placed 11th.

• The 200 free relay team of DuBois, Morgan Paaverud, Gentry Musgrove and Colby was ninth and the 400 free relay team of Musgrove, Katherine Andrews, Marissa Hudoba and Colby placed 10th.

• Divers Nikki Michaelson and Megan Merschman placed third (173.20) and seventh (148.15), respectively.

• Sakry was seventh in the 100 butterfly and Jessica Colby fifth in the 100 freestyle.
