A man with three prior DWI convictions in Wisconsin in the past 10 years now faces a felony DWI charge in Anoka County District Court following his arrest in Coon Rapids.
Derrick James Tinsley, 32, Somerset, Wis., was arraigned in court on two felony DWI counts Aug. 27. Bail was set at $30,000.
The evening of Aug. 24, a Coon Rapids Police officer saw a car exit Highway 10 to Hanson Boulevard, hit a curb to go north, then made a wide right turn on to 121st Avenue crossing over the fog line, according to the complaint.
The officer stopped the care, identified the driver as Tinsley and alleged he had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, an odor of alcohol on his breath and poor balance when he got out of the car.
The complaint alleges that Tinsley failed three of four field sobriety tests, then blew a .129 on the preliminary breath test.
Following the implied consent advisory at the police station, Tinsley agreed to take a breath test, which allegedly showed a blood-alcohol level of .10.
Tinsley’s previous DWI convictions were in 2004, 2007 and 2012.
