Ham Lake boy hospitalized after being struck by car on Highway 65

A 15-year-old Ham Lake boy was transported to the hospital after being struck while crossing Highway 65 on his bicycle against a red light.

As of Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, the boy was listed in critical, but stable, condition at the Hennepin County Medical Center, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was called 6:31 p.m. Sept. 10 to the scene of the accident at Highway 65 and Crosstown Boulevard in Ham Lake and learned that a 58-year-old Elk River man heading south on Highway 65 had a green light when the bicyclist crossed the highway.

There is no indication that alcohol or controlled substances played a role in the accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
