A 70-year-old Blaine man was found dead in the woods near Fogerty Arena in Blaine the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 14.
According to the Blaine Police Department, he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police were called to a Blaine home 9:54 a.m. Sept. 14 and told by the man’s family members that they had not seen or heard from him in the past 12 hours and that it was highly unusual for him to just disappear.
Authorities several hours later located the man’s vehicle in the north parking lot of Fogerty Ice Arena, 9250 Lincoln St. NE. A K9 officer was brought to the scene to search for the man. His body was found in the woods at 4:04 p.m. Police Chief Chris Olson said the weapon was recovered.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Blaine Police Department in the investigation.
