As it celebrates 40 years in the community, Multicare Associates is hosting a Blaine Wellness Day tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 21) at the Blaine Medical Center where it is based.
The event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 11855 Ulysses St. NE in Blaine will include flu shots for $25 or you can bill your insurance company, the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, free health screenings and two health seminars.

Dr. Joy Anderson and Dr. Kavitha Karukurichi will be leading the 9:30 a.m. seminar on osteoporosis, which is a common and progressive bone disease found mainly in menopausal women and men after the age of 70. The seminar will address the best way to prevent the disease and what lifestyle changes should be made to ensure the healthiest possible way of life with osteoporosis.
Dr. Stacy Noyes, registered nurse Alice Timm and nutritionist Lori Treb will be on a 10:30 a.m. panel discussing women’s health issues in the areas of birthing and water births; diet, exercise and nutrition; and information about being a healthy woman.
The free screenings offered throughout the event are for stroke assessment, carotid artery ultrasound screening, women’s cancer screening, heart health screening and varicose vein screening.
