Police seek suspect who assaulted Ramsey woman

A suspect assaulted and attempted to rape a 35-year-old Ramsey woman the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 23 on a bike path in the city of Ramsey, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said in a Friday afternoon press release.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim reported that the assault occurred sometime between 4:45 and 5:30 p.m. on a bike path near the 6100 block of Alpine Avenue NW.

She told police that a man pulled her off the bike path into the tall grass where she was allegedly punched in the face, kicked and a sexual assault was attempted, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office learned that the victim fought off the suspect and he ran off in an unknown direction when a car passed by. The victim reported the crime to police, who confirmed she has injuries consistent with an assault.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was described as a white male wearing all black clothing with a black baseball cap and teardrop style sunglasses. The suspect was further described as having ghostly white skin, in his late 20’s to 40’s and being around 5’8” to 5’9” with a small build and was clean shaven.

The sheriff’s office and Ramsey Police Department are actively investigating all leads. Those with information should call 763-427-1212.
