Governor’s wife visits RISE

Mrs. Wendell Anderson and RISE, Inc. President Chet Tollefson discussed a project with one of the RISE employees at a recent open house. Mrs. Anderson was among almost 400 visitors who toured RISE, a sheltered workshop for the handicapped on Sept. 18.

City approves addition of race track zoning district

Blaine city council Sept. 15 adopted an ordinance that will add an industrial/recreational zoning district to the city’s zoning ordinance.

That ordinance addition will allow a zoning district which could accommodate a potential race track within the city.

Household hazardous waste collection at National Sports Center

A concentrated effort is being made to dispose of household hazardous waste and thus protecting the environment. Anoka County, along with the cities of Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington, Lino Lakes and Columbus Township will have a household hazardous waste collection Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8 and 9, at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
