With the National Fire Protection Association-recognized Fire Prevention Week Oct. 6-12, many local fire departments are hosting open houses to give residents a chance to tour fire stations and vehicles and see demonstrations on what firefighters could do any week of the year.
All open houses are Saturday, Oct. 12.
Andover’s Fire Station No. 1, 13875 Crosstown Blvd. NW, will host from 1-3 p.m.
The East Bethel Fire Department will also hold its open house at its own Station No. 1, 2751 Viking Blvd. NE, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Ham Lake Fire Department open house is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station No, 1, 15544 Central Ave. NE.
Ham Lake Fire Chief Don Krueger said it will include a simulated firefighting hose line and vehicle and equipment displays not only from the Ham Lake Fire Department but the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and Allina as well. There will also be wellness checks.
Ramsey Fire Station No. 1, 15050 Armstrong Blvd., will have multiple demonstrations and a bouncy house at its open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. Francis’ open house is from 8 a.m. to noon at 3740 Bridge St. NW. The early start will give residents a great opportunity to try the french toast breakfast that will be served before they tour the station and look at the vehicles, according to Dean Kapler, who is chief of the Ramsey Fire Department, but also oversees operations for the St. Francis Fire Department.
