Paula Lynn Larson, 43, had pleaded guilty to two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide Aug. 15.

A 69-month prison sentence was stayed as long as Larson does not violate the terms of her probation.

Larson must pay restitution to the families of the two victims, John Allen Jordan, 48, St. Francis, and Patricia Lyn Kalla, 46, Big Lake, who were riding together on a motorcycle heading west on Viking Boulevard near Rendova Street in East Bethel when Larson in her SUV made a maneuver that caused the motorcycle to collide with her vehicle.

The police investigation concluded that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the criminal complaint. A blood test showed that Larson had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16, which is twice the legal limit.

Larson has no prior criminal history, according to the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.

“We all know that drunk driving has catastrophic ramifications, often including the loss of lives as in this case,” said Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo. “This kind of tragedy is completely preventable.”
