Winding in front of the high school, the parade showcased a variety of school organizations demonstrating Panther pride.

The Tech Crew took the prize, a new traveling trophy, for its float, which featured a bird in its nest under a goal post. This year’s Homecoming theme was “Send Them Back to Their Nest” since the Panthers’ opponents were the St. Louis Park Orioles. “There’s Only Room For One SLP!” the float declared.

Student council members selected the Tech Crew’s float as the winner after reviewing the entry’s creativity, number of participants and school spirit, among other considerations, according to student council co-adviser Ann Enstad.

Members of the Spring Lake Park School Board, Homecoming royalty, dance team and Leos club also processed up the front driveway to the school.

Many sports teams and clubs held fundraisers at the tailgate party. The math team’s fundraiser was very busy with a selection of pies at $2 per slice. Fast-pitch softball parents grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for hungry spectators.
