A man in pajamas shows up at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake. Fidgety and frightened – and clutching a teddy bear – the man begs a detective for help. Then suddenly, shots ring out and the pajama-clad man drops dead.
The scene is part of Mystery Café’s series of high-energy interactive dinner theater comedies.
“A Man in Pajamas” opens the 2013-14 season at Majestic Oaks Oct. 18 and runs through Nov. 2.
Next up, “Holiday Homicide” takes the stage Nov. 29 through Dec. 30.
Finally, “Mrdr She Tweeted” closes the season with performances Jan. 3 through March 8.
The dinner theater has each show performed in four 15- to 20-minute scenes, with the action happening all around the dining room.
Sleuthing their way through the three-course meal, audience members attempt to solve the mystery. Between scenes, they can even use “bribe money” to get clues from the characters as the actors serve the meal.
At the end of the show, prizes are awarded to audience members who come up with some of the more creative answers and the “Super Sleuth” of the evening is identified.
Mystery Café, the first interactive dinner theater in Minnesota, opened in 1989 and has been running at locations all over the greater Twin Cities area.
Having performed well over 10,000 shows in Minnesota, the 2013-14 season is the third season of Mystery Café at Majestic Oaks.
