Aveda, Yawanawa tribe work together
Working to create products that are beneficial to the environment is at the core of the Aveda Corporation in Blaine.
While the company specializes in developing pure plant- and flower-based cosmetics, Aveda has taken its environmental cause one step further by developing a partnership with an indigenous tribe in the Brazilian rainforest.
The Yawanawa tribe will grow bixa, a traditional red coloring used for tribal ceremonies. Inside the pods are a powdered coloring, which is what Aveda will use in its natural cosmetics.
