The Blaine City Council Oct. 3 gave approvals for two housing development projects to move forward.

Mattamy Homes received approval to construct six townhome buildings with 27 total units in the Legacy Creek Third Addition.

Mattamy Homes received approval to construct six townhome buildings with 27 total units in the Legacy Creek Third Addition.

The council granted Source Construction Capital final plat and conditional use permit approvals to subdivide 5.6 acres and construct 27 townhome lots, which will be known as Legacy Creek Third Addition. The subdivision also includes three common lots and three outlots for future housing developments.

Planning and Community Development Director Bryan Schafer said this is the next phase of the Mattamy Homes townhomes project in this area, in which six buildings with 26 units have already been constructed. These 27 units would be in an additional six buildings.

Schafer said that Centex Homes was the original builder for this area. It constructed three buildings with 15 units before the recession hit.

The newest addition is on the north side of 125th Avenue and west of Legacy Creek Parkway.

The council also approved the final plat for subdividing 2.5 acres into 16 single-family home lots for the 57th addition of The Lakes of Radisson project. Schafer said this is a continuation of Hans Hagen Homes’ carriage and village style homes that have done well.
