The Anoka County Historical Society will present its third program in the Civil War lecture series, “The Gettysburg Address and the Lasting Impacts of the Battle,” Thursday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m., at the Anoka County History Center, 2135 3rd Ave. N, Anoka.
These lectures are free and open to the community.
The Gettysburg Address and the lasting impacts of the battle features the speech given by President Abraham Lincoln in November of 1863 as the cemetery at Gettysburg was dedicated, and is probably one of the most memorized speeches ever given.
Former certified Gettysburg Battlefield Guide John Cox will share stories and background about the speech and one of the most iconic battles of the entire Civil War.
This series will continue in 2014.
