Woman sentenced for thefts from two Blaine stores

A 25-year-old woman was sentenced Oct. 17 in Anoka County District Court to 13 months in prison for helping to steal almost $1,500 worth of merchandise from two Blaine clothing stores.

Stephanie Lyons, 25, of Minneapolis, was convicted of felony theft in September. A separate felony fleeing police in a motor vehicle charge was dismissed.

Lyons was given credit for 76 days already served in jail following her arrest.

According to the criminal complaint, Blaine Police found $771.96 of merchandise stolen from Maurice’s and $671.99 of clothing stolen from Kohl’s in the white Volkswagen that Lyons was driving as she and Taryn Rose Tillman, 24, of Richfield, were fleeing police after 7:44 p.m. July 30.

Tillman was also charged with felony theft and will make her next court appearance Nov. 13.

While trying to evade capture, Lyons drove about 100 mph as she was heading south on I-35W. An officer lost control of their vehicle and ran into a ditch when Tillman quickly took the County Road I exit. The Volkswagen eventually crashed on Edgewood Road in Blaine and the suspects fled on foot, but were later apprehended.
