An open house is scheduled from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Anoka County Highway Department, 1440 Bunker Lake Blvd., in Andover, which is right down the road from the project area between Crane Street in Andover and Jefferson Street in Ham Lake.

The reconstruction to bring Bunker Lake Boulevard to a four-lane, concrete median divided roadway with a trail on both sides is tentatively scheduled to take place in 2015.

Unlike Main Street, a bridge at the railroad crossing is not included in the county’s plans for this project. However, bus/truck pull-out lanes are planned near the railroad crossing so they do not hold up a lane of traffic when stopping.

A box culvert underpass is proposed to make it safer for people to cross Bunker Lake Boulevard at a Bunker Hills Regional Park entrance.

According to the county highway department, this stretch of Bunker Lake Boulevard currently averages approximately 14,900 vehicles per day and is projected to carry 27,000 vehicles per day by the year 2030.

The county has received a federal grant to complete this 2.3-mile stretch of road.
