SLP Ride-A-Long program approved

The Spring Lake Park village council, at a Nov. 5 meeting, approved a new Ride-A-Long program proposed by village police.

Patterned after a similar program which has been successful in Kansas City, the program provides an opportunity for youngsters to ride with police as observers.

Morris Bye dies

Morris Bye, the man who was school superintendent when Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 was created and during its initial growth, died Sunday night in a Minneapolis hospital. He was 88 years old.

Many activities planned for chemical health awareness

A wide range of activities are planned for Red Ribbon Week, District 16’s campaign to bring awareness to chemical health issues.

All the district’s schools will focus on a variety of issues during the week of Nov. 15. Red ribbons are being distributed throughout the school community for display. The ribbon symbolizes a commitment to reduce and prevent alcohol and other drugs and promote a healthy, chemical-free lifestyle.
