East Bethel man accused of breaking into Linwood home

An East Bethel man was arraigned Oct. 14 in Anoka County District Court on a felony second-degree burglary charge for allegedly breaking into a Linwood Township home.

James Leo Stevenson, 41, will make his next court appearance Nov. 12.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities found prescription medication and mail in the name of the Linwood homeowner in Stevenson’s vehicle.

In a post-Miranda statement, he alleged he borrowed his stepfather’s vehicle and that another man drove him in the vehicle to the home and the other man is the one who stole the items.

The Anoka County Attorney’s Office has not filed any charges against another person.

A Linwood Township resident called 911 Oct. 11 to report that an unknown man was walking around the neighbor’s home on the 8700 block of 241st Avenue NE. The caller said the homeowner was out of town, according to the complaint.

Officers allegedly found Stevenson walking around the back side of the home. He first told police he was there to give an estimate for a re-roofing job, but he allegedly later admitted that he had been inside the home.

Police learned the home had been broken into the previous day and re-entered Oct. 14.
