Coon Rapids American Legion hosts fundraiser for scholarship pageant

The Miss Coon Rapids Scholarship Pageant was the beneficiary of the annual brunch, silent auction and style show that took place at the Coon Rapids American Legion Saturday.

The annual pageant takes place Saturday, Nov. 23, 7 p.m., in the Coon Rapids High School auditorium and all the proceeds from the Nov. 9 event goes to scholarships for the pageant contestants.

Several of the candidates took part in the style show modeling clothes provided by The Dress Barn and Maurice’s, both located at Riverdale in Coon Rapids.

Pageant contestants modeling were Kayla Brown, Paris Becker, Bailey Reese, Amanda Moder, Kami Patron, Tori Larson, Grace Christianson and Kami Kaderlik.

Models also included Miss Coon Rapids 2013 Emily Kallis, 2013 Miss Coon Rapids Outstanding Teen Kathryn Kueppers and 2013 Coon Rapids Junior Royalty Princess Natalie Berg.

In addition, four candidates who are competing in the Miss Coon Rapids Outstanding Teen Pageant, which takes place in tandem with the Miss Coon Rapids Pageant Nov. 23, were among the models.

They were Lea Mau, Brianna Smith, Mia Pagnac and Kallie Jo Ascheman.

Emcee was Carla Beaurline, a former Miss Coon Rapids who is owner, host and co-producer of the “Around Town” cable television show.

Sponsors of the event included Goulds Jewelry, John Roberts Co., Around Town, Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club, Mississippi Dunes, Warners’ Stellian, Pro Biz Sports and Dino’s Gyros.
