Man charged, accused of trying to run someone over in Blaine parking lot

A Mounds View man has been accused in Anoka County District Court of attempting to run over another man in a parking lot of a Blaine business.

Roger William Rodarte, 45, was arraigned in court Nov. 5 on two felony charges of second-degree assault. His next court appearance is Dec. 4.

The Blaine Police Department just before 10 a.m. Oct. 31 were dispatched to a business on the 10500 block of University Avenue.

According to the complaint, Rodarte and the victim got into an argument, then Rodarte got into his vehicle and accelerated toward the man.

He jumped out of the way and Rodarte allegedly ran through the picture window at the front of the store.

Rodarte was arrested for probable cause assault and damage to property charges, but was only charged with the assault.

Amanda Vickstrom of the Anoka County Attorney’s Office said he was not charged for damage to property because his intent was not to hit the window. However, the store owner would still likely be able to get restitution, she said.
