Nels Nelson

Age 89 of Anoka, passed away October 31, 2013.
Preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Irene.
Nels was a corporal in World War II, fought in the Philippines, and was honorably discharged from the army in January, 1946, after 34 months of service to his country. Following the war, he attended Bethel College where he played on the Bethel football team. He then attended Bethel Seminary and was ordained in 1955. Nels served his Lord in 8 different churches. He ministered as the chaplain at Guardian Angels in Elk River, Minn. for 8 1/2 years before retiring. He is now at home with Jesus in heaven.
He was a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Nels loved Jesus and shared his faith with those around him.
He is survived by his son, Daniel (Beth); daughter, Luann (Richard) Jones, four grandchildren, Josiah (Michele) Nelson, Melynda Nelson, Jonathan Jones, Kristina (Joel) Noding; two great-grandchildren, Cole Nelson and Carter Nelson, and many friends as well as many dear relatives on Irenes side of the family.
A special thank you to the staff at River Oaks Assisted Living, Memory Care Unit, Allina Hospice and Dr. Hatlestad of Bluestone Physicians Services for their care and kindness.
A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to service, at First Baptist Church of Anoka, 1235 Park Street, Anoka.
