Due to the energy crisis the Blaine tree lighting, held annually at the Blaine city hall, has been canceled for this year.

Blaine, SLP councils discuss Northtown traffic situation

Blaine and Spring Lake Park councils got together Thursday to discuss the traffic situation along 85th Avenue which directly affects both cities.

A marked increase in traffic since Cub Foods opened its doors in October has brought numerous resident complaints and concerns from those living south of Northtown Shopping Center in Spring Lake Park.

Youth identified as Lino Lakes murder victim

A couple returning home to their Lino Lakes home shortly before midnight Saturday discovered the body of a person lying on the blacktop road. The body, which was identified by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division as Quang Khai Chung, 17, of Brooklyn Center, was found west of 621 Aqua Lane near a Lino Lakes golf course. The area has few other homes in the vicinity. Chung died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, according to an autopsy report.
