Winners named in Coon Rapids holiday lights contest

Winners have been named in the Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s annual holiday lights contest.

The contest for Coon Rapids residents only was judged by commission members Dec. 14.

Grand prize winner was Tim Yohnke, 12052 Vintage St. NW, who won a $100 prize for his moving lights display on both the house and lot.

There were also two other $50 prizewinners, one for a static display and the other for a motion display.

• Bruce Quammen, 11360 Crooked Lake Blvd., was the static display winner.

• David and Gloria Teske, 1850 103rd Ave. NW, won the motion display category.

There were 13 entries, six motion displays and seven static.

Residents could either nominate their own holiday lights display or a neighbor’s.

City of Coon Rapids employees and family members, arts commission members and family and contest sponsors were not eligible to enter.

Entries could be made in only one category.

Photographs and images become the property of the city of Coon Rapids once they have been submitted and are not returned.

Winning entries may be used for promotional and advertising efforts in city communications.

The arts commission promotes local cultural productions and talent, including concerts and art shows, and identifies and heightens community awareness of cultural needs in the community.

The commission meets the third Tuesday of the month at 5:45 p.m.
